Jake is now 19 and attending ITT Tech in Houston where he is pursuing his AA Degree in computer networking. So far he has kept up a 4.0 GPA and straight A’s, and hopes to get an internship next spring with Cisco, HP or another tech company. Jake is looking more and more like our mom everyday and definitely has her selfless attitude and gentle spirit.
Elijah had quite an eventful year. He went on an airplane for the first time on a class trip to Washington DC, graduated Clay Road Baptist School after 9 years there, had his 15th birthday, and started 9th grade at Cy Ridge High School. Public school seemed to be a smooth transition, with the exception of the 6am bus rides! Eli continues to grow taller, and taller…. and is a good hearted guy who continues to have a variety of interests.
Dad and Virginia welcomed their first grandchild this fall! Casarah Gonzalez was born on October 10th, 2007 at 1:32 p.m. She weighed in at 6 lbs, 13 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. Virginia’s daughter, Melissa and her husband Tony are getting use to little sleep and lots of joy in their house!
So the question everyone keeps asking…Are Jimmy and Virginia married ALREADY? The answer is NO, nobody missed out on anything yet. Although they have been dating for almost 8 years I think everyone in the family is quite content with their relationship as it is and sees no reason to rush into anything else. Virginia has played a mom role to Jake and Eli and we are truly blessed to have her in our lives.
Dad still works at Time Warner, which became Comcast Cable in Houston this past summer. The transition has proved to be very busy for him with several out of state business trips and some overtime work, but hopefully things will calm down a bit after the New Year (that would be my hope and prayer!)
As for me, this year has been one of tremendous change, growth and excitement. I am thrilled to be moving to Prague in late January! Although leaving family and friends in California and Texas behind is hard to think about, I know that God is preparing some amazing opportunities for me in the coming year as I serve in full time ministry.
I opened a Christmas card from a friend this morning and wanted to share with you the ending of her letter- “Through everything that has transpired this year, we have spent a lot of time on our kness, both praising God and asking for his guidance. We praise Him that he does not allow us to stagnate, and brings change exclusively for our benefit. We pray that you will this season, embrace the changes that God wants to bring to your lives as well.”
What a great attitude as we look forward to the New Year- embracing what God gives you this year.
Bless you friends!
